Deon Cooper, aka "Deon The Director"

Director, writer and producer based in Los Angeles

Deon was born and raised in the Bay Area of California where he got the nickname "Deon The Director" for always carrying a video camera with him. 

Deon is a creative and passionate Entertainment and Media Professional with an exceptional vision, vivid imagination, and a deep passion for film and knowledge of all stages of the filmmaking process. Deon has over 17 years of experience in script writing, directing, editing, and live broadcasting.  

 

It all started in his early twenties. After writing his first script, Deon developed a passion for filmmaking and was encouraged by family and friends to pursue a career in the filmmaking industry. Deon followed his passion and went to school to study African American Film History, Script Writing, Film History, Live Broadcasting, and Film Editing. Deon's work history in the industry started with his own business called Home Theater Masters, where he would sell and install home theaters. In 2004 Deon started Radio For The World to promote independent artists on the late website stickam.com. With Radio For The World, Deon had one of the first radio stations to stream live audio and video to Facebook in 2016. In 2006 Deon started working at Vallejo Community Access Television (VCAT) as a floor director/editor/assistant script writer and assistant director for other projects that weren't his own. Around that same time Deon could also be found at OZCAT radio, streaming DJs live to the internet, which led to writing and producing his own live plays.  

In 2013 Deon travels to the Netherlands where he got married and continued to build his network and resume. Deon worked as a live streamer at O'Ceallaigh's Irish Pub and OOG Radio, both located in the city of Groningen, the Netherlands. Deon also became a published author of "Two Worlds, Two Loves, Two Stories". On top of that, Deon travelled throughout Europe as an event crew member to build stages for major events and festivals of Mojo Concerts, AFAS Live, Ziggodome and so much more.

Then, as a top gamer, Deon moved to Los Angeles, California where he got the opportunity to work in the gaming industry for First Contact Entertainment. While living in Los Angeles, Deon was able to build a cast and crew and filmed the pilot episode of  the series "Meal Ticket" in 2020. Deon currently resides in Los Angeles where he continues to pursue his career in the filmmaking industry.
